Leon Valley was originally settled as a small farming and ranching community on Bandera Road between Helotes and San Antonio. Leon Valley became an incorporated city on December 12, 1955. The town's name comes from the fact that it was founded by brothers named Leon and Eloy Valles.
Leon Valley's historical society is one of the most vibrant in the San Antonio metro area. Along with preserving historical documents, buildings and genealogies the Leon Valley Historical Society has established a homestead in order to promote awareness about this unique area's rich heritage.
Leon Valley is surrounded by the city of San Antonio, and is located just 3 miles southwest of the South Texas Medical Center.
